Activities

We at the Hermitage know that activities enrich the mind, body and spirit. That’s why the staff of our Wellness and Leisure Department plans social, recreational, spiritual, educational, cultural and physical opportunities for our residents. There’s never a dull moment at the Hermitage, so jump in and enjoy!

Gardening

There’s something satisfying to growing your own plants and flowers, and the Hermitage has enough land to do both. In our courtyard, residents tend to tomato plants and flowers during the summer months, when the sun’s glorious rays bring life to our 98 acres.

Country Club Membership

Not far from the Hermitage, residents will find a wonderland of activities at the Eastern Shore Yacht & Country Club, a membership of which is included in your monthly fees. Nestled among the pines and oaks on the lower Delmarva Peninsula, the country club offers residents a chance to enjoy golf and tennis tournaments, poolside parties, dances, inside and outside dining, concerts and much more.

Arts and Crafts

Get creative with our arts & crafts team, whether you’re painting your own masterpiece or firing up a kiln to finish off a piece of pottery. Arts & crafts allow residents to use their hands and minds, stay active and enjoy their neighbors’ company.

Bingo

A resident favorite, our weekly bingo games bring out fun…and competitiveness with each letter and number called. Gentle reminders from staff make sure residents don’t miss a game.

Day Outings

All aboard for our bi-weekly outings at the Hermitage. Every Friday, we take residents to a different place when the weather cooperates, like fishing, baseball games in Salisbury, trips to Ocean City’s Boardwalk, dining at local restaurants, shopping and play and movies in Onancock. On Tuesdays, residents get to bank and shop in town.

Social Hall

Get social in a hall made especially for community activities. Local preschoolers come in and hold their graduations, our resident council meets in the hall and artists come in and entertain our residents.

Corner Cafe

Grab a coffee or tea at our Corner Café, or grab a Wii-mote and play a game of Nintendo Wii. Café-style tables covered in mosaic tiles, a widescreen TV and Nintendo games make this a hip place to hang out.

Puzzles

Grab a seat and get ready to help put a piece – or 100 – into a puzzle. We have different puzzles at four different stations throughout the building.

Hair Salon

You don’t have to travel too far to get pampered at our onsite hair salon. Three days a week, a hair stylist visits and makes our residents look and feel great.
